Engineered Wood Flooring And Dogs

engineered wood flooring and dogs

Engineered wood flooring has gone to the dogs. unfortunately, it is low on the pet-friendly list. dogs and hardwood floors. hardwood floors sustain the same use and abuse by dogs as carpeting or any other flooring, but: hardwood floors do not confine dog allergens, hair, dust or odor.. The color of the new hardwood flooring won't prevent scratching from dogs' nails, but it will work in your favor to more easily hide scratches and dents. lighter wood species with a fair amount of graining like oak has will have a tendency to camouflage scratches and dents, so they are a lot less noticeable than they would be on a wood species. I heard engineered hardwood is better (looks better, can be refinished, etc), but it also scratches more easily with pets. we have 2 dogs and family/friends will bring their dog(s) over from time to time, and the dogs do have long nails that can scratch floors over time. so i'm torn..

One of the most common problems with hardwood flooring is that dogs who constantly walk around can scratch the surface. a few types of flooring are better than others, and all have pros and cons you'll have to consider.. When it comes to hardwood flooring and your dogs, choose wisely. if you live in westchester county ny, i offer color consultations to advise customers on paint colors and stain choices. my designer discount at the paint stores usually more than offsets the cost for the hour consultation..
